555,219. Two-part couplings. O'BRIEN, J. F. Jan. 27, 1942, No. 1130. [Class 38 (i)] In a wiring system having a moulding 10 formed in unit lengths having male and female ends 12, 13 to fit adjacent units together, a plurality of conductors a<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>1</SP> are mounted in the moulding, a pair of conductors b<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>1</SP> of the same polarity being separated by a longitudinal partition 17 from the conductor a<SP>1</SP> of opposite polarity. In each of the units one of the conductors b<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>1</SP> is bent to bring its central position in juxtaposition with the conductor a<SP>1</SP> and outlet contacts 16 are provided adjacent to plug receiving openings 14. In use the conductor a<SP>1</SP> is connected to the supply, and of the conductors b<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>1</SP> one is connected to the supply direct and the other through a wall switch. Appliances are plugged into one or other of the wiring units according as a continuous or a switch-controlled operation is required. At the ends of the units the conductors have always a standard spacing so that the units are interchangeable. The conductors are supported in notches in transverse partitions 23, 23a and are spaced by slotted plates 27 inserted between the partitions. A back plate 30 encloses and retains the mountings in place.
