Abstract

555,218. Two-part couplings. O'BRIEN, J. F. Jan. 27, 1942, No. 1129. [Class 38 (i)] In a wiring system having a moulding 10 formed in unit lengths having male and female ends 16, 17 to fit adjacent units together, a plurality of conductors a, b, c, are mounted in the moulding, a pair of conductors b, c of the same polarity being separated by a longitudinal portion 19 from the conductor a of opposite polarity but each of the conductors b, c being bent alter nately into proximity with the conductor a at points where outlet contacts 21 are provided. In use the conductor a is connected to the supply, and of the conductors b, c one is connected to the supply direct and the other through a wall switch. Appliances are plugged into one or other of the outlet sockets according as a continuous or a switch-controlled operation is required. The conductors are supported in transverse partitions 22 and are spaced by slotted insulating plates 23 inserted between the partitions. A back plate encloses and retains the mountings in place.
