[Classes 36 and 38 (i)] The conductors 32 of wiring system employing units connected in series are supported in a housing consisting of a channel-shaped cap member 21 into which fits a base member 22, by forming transverse webs 25, 25a, 26 in the cap member having V-shaped notches 30 in their edges to receive the conductors which are clamped by corresponding V-shaped grooves 33 in the base member 22. The base member is secured by screws so as to be adjustable to accommodate conductors of different sizes, and either two or three conductors can be inserted as required. The webs 26 are arranged in pairs to form between them a space in which contacts for a wall socket are located. Each contact consists of a blade 39 bent to lie opposite the plug receiving apertures 40, the shank of the contact being offset to embrace either the central or outer conductor as required. In order to minimize the depth of the housing, the shanks of the contacts are bifurcated to leave a space 41 through which the contact blade of the plug member can pass as described in Specification 559,291, and recesses 42 can be provided in the base member opposite the contacts. Ribs 35 isolate the conductors and enter notches 36 in the transverse webs.
