Abstract
553,987. Copper powder. TRIGGS, W. W. (Metals Disintegrating Co., Inc.). Nov. 10, 1941 No. 14477. [Class 100 (ii)] Flaked copper or copper alloy powder is made by milling the metal with liquid hydrocarbon and a leafing agent in an atmosphere free from free oxygen and at a temperature, for the major part of the operation, not less than 60‹C. The initial temperature may be about 75‹C and the final part of the operation may be effected at a temperature less than 50<SP>0</SP>C. e.g. 30<SP>0</SP>C. The atmosphere in the mill may be carbon dioxide, nitrogen or combustion gases and the liquid hydrocarbon may be saturated with an inert gas such as carbon dioxide.
