Abstract
553,876. Electric welding. LATIMER, J., and METROPOLITAN - VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Dec. 4, 1941, No. 15643. [Class 83 (iv)] Aluminium-iron alloys are electrically welded in, an atmosphere of non-oxidizing gas or vapour. The welding is carried out by slow-butt or flash-butt welding and the atmosphere may consist of hydrogen or coal gas. One or both parts may be made of the aluminium-iron alloy or one of the parts may be of another metal such as mild steel. The aluminium alloy may consist of carbon up to 0.5 per cent, manganese 0.5 per cent, silicon 0.5 per cent, chromium 13 per cent, aluminium 5 per cent, titanium up to 1 per cent and the rest iron.
