Abstract

553,461. Protective devices. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and RANDALL, C. E. May 12, 1942, No. 6425. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A leakage path for the discharge of high potentials suitable for example for connection across an inductive device to reduce the induced voltage when the circuit is broken as in Specification 548,345 consists of granules of tungsten or molybdenum mixed with glass whereby a great number of small gaps is formed. The mixture is contained in a metal cylinder (with an electrode 7) the ends of the cylinder being closed by insulating end plates held together by a bolt 3 which constitutes the other electrode. The granules may be in oil or a gaseous medium.
