[Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] An engine cylinder comprises a barrel and head liner 16 of steel &c. intake and exhaust port liners 26, 28 of steel &c. which may be cast or stamped separately and welded to the head, valve mechanism supports 30 of steel &c. attached to the barrel, and a casing 62, 64 of aluminium alloy &c. covering the port liners and a part of the barrel and the valve mechanism supports. Cooling fins 82 may be provided.
