Abstract

551,078. Vehicle wheels. KELSEY-HAYES WHEEL CO. Dec. 3, 1940, No. 17221. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1939. [Class 144 (ii)] A wheel rim comprises tyre-retaining flanges 3, 4, a well-base 7, and.a deep channel forming a felloeportion 2 by which the rim is detachably secured to the wheel by transverse bolts. The channel 2 is closed by a relatively-thin metal band 10 welded &c. to the rimbody. The outer wall 17 of the channel 2 may be formed with centering-lugs to engage the edge of a wheel-disc; and, the channel may be braced by channel-section distance pieces 21 at the attachment- . bolt locations. Four different lateral mounting positions of the rim on the wheel-disc are possible.
