550,145. Heating liquids in bulk. BRIGGS & CO., Ltd., S., and WATERFIELD, M. July 29, 1941, No. 9622. [Class 64 (iii)] Steam-heated tubular apparatus immersed in a liquid comprises upper and lower headers 1, 2 connected by a circle of concentric tubes, the outer tubes 8 opening into the headers and the inner tubes 7 into the surrounding liquid. The upper header has internal upper bosses la and external lower bosses 1b for receiving the tubes, and the lower header has internal upper and lower bosses 2b, 2a. Straight headers 10, 1-1 connected by concentric tubes may radiate from the main circular. headers 1, 2. Steam enters the apparatus through a connection 13 and condensation collects in a sump 4, from which it is taken off through an outlet 5.
