Abstract

The cooler has a cylindrical case (1) with circular end plates (2, 3) and is fitted between the sump and the oil filter. A central core (5) has an inlet opening (7) to the sump and an outlet opening (6) to the filter. The openings are joined by a coil of tube (10) wrapped round the core. The outer case (1) has two openings (13, 14) diametrically opposite each other. One of these has a deflector plate (15) round it. Cooling air flows through these openings and over the coil through which oil flows from the sump to the filter. Oil returns from the filter to the sump through two tubes (11) parallel to the core.
