Abstract
549,302. Swash-plate pumps. RUBERY OWEN MESSIER, Ltd., CONWAY, H. G., and HADEKEL, R. May 12, 1941, No. 6139. [Class 102 (i)] In a reciprocating pump one or more pistons 22 are reciprocated in one or more cylinders 16 disposed eccentrically to an axis of rotation by means of two swash-plates 25, 27 which are pivotally mounted to move in unison about axes 26, 28 off-set from the centre-line of the pump so that the delivery pressure acting against a spring 30 tends to reduce the inclination of the swash-plates. The spring 30 is pivoted to an adjustable anchorage point 33 and is attached to the eye 32 of an ear 31 on the swash-plate 27 so that its radius of action about the pivot 28 is reduced as the inclination of the swash-plate is reduced. The swashplates are connected by a link 29, and a drain 47 is provided for leakage. The ends of the pistons 22 and the piston-rods 23 are rounded, and their radii of curvature equal to the distances by which the centres 26, 28 are off-set from the faces of the plates 25, 27. These rounded ends may engage in similarly recessed washers on the swash-plates.
