Abstract

548,722. Rectifying alternating current; transformers ; X-ray apparatus. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken). Jan. 9, 1942, No. 379. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XX] The high-tension transformer 7, filament heating transformers 8 ... 13, rectifying valves 14 ... 17 and associated switches 33, 34 of a supply arrangement for a pair of X-ray tubes are disposed in a common metal casing 1 provided with an insulating partition 2, the transformers being suspended in the lower compartment by a frame 6, while the valves and switches are mounted on the upper side of the partition. The lower compartment is oil-filled and may communicate with the upper compartment or with a separate expansion tank 20 formed therein. The latter may be provided with a filler cap 25 having a small orifice communicating with the external atmosphere. The lid 28 of the main casing is provided with a hood 48 through which the low tension supply leads are passed. The switches 33, 34 are electromagnetically operated and are effective to supply anode current alternatively to two tubes at terminals 31, 32, the cathodes of the tubes being respectively supplied at terminals 29, 30 from the transformers 8, 9.
