Abstract
448,312. Transformers. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Sept. 5, 1935. Nos. 24775, 24776, and 24777. Convention dates, Oct. 3, 1934, June 25, 1935, and June 25, 1935. [Class 38 (ii)] The winding of an auto - transformer for feeding luminous discharge tubes is divided into two parts 1, 2 spaced apart on a shell-type core 3 with which is associated magnetic shunts 6, 7 located between the winding parts. The ratio between the numbers of turns of the parts 1, 2 may vary from 1:1 to 2 : 3. The supply circuit may be connected across either the whole or a tapped portion of the part 1. Additional windings 14, 15 closely coupled with the part 1 may be provided for supplying cathode heating current to the discharge tubes. Further, a winding 16 in series with the main winding may be provided for supplying ignition voltage to the discharge tubes.
