Abstract

401,903. Electric supply systems. AKTIEBOLAGET INGENIORSFIRMAN TEKNIK, 29, Lõstmakaregatan, Stockholm. Dec. 16, 1932, No. 35682. Convention date, Dec. 16, 1931. [Class 38 (iv).] Lighting systems.- Current is supplied to gas-filled luminous tubes of the glow discharge type having electrodes without heating means, such as neon tubes for signs, through a separate step-up transformer for each tube or group of tubes in series, the transformers operating at a moderate flux density and with small magnetic losses with their primary windings connected in series and with the ends of their secondary windings connected to opposite electrodes of the corresponding tubes or groups of tubes. Thus, as shown in Fig. 3, each tube or group of tubes 1, 2, 3 is connected across the secondary winding of a corresponding transformer 4, 5, 6 of normal type without magnetic shunt, the primary windings being in series. Such primary windings may be supplied through an intermediate transformer 10 provided, if necessary, with regulating taps on primary or secondary or on both windings or with an adjustable magnetic shunt, and adjustable resistances, reactances, shunt condensers or combinations thereof may be arranged in the primary circuit of the tube transformers or of the intermediate transformer or of both.
