499,733. Metal vapour apparatus. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. July 5, 1938, No. 19917. Convention date, July 7, 1937. [Class 39 (i)] A metal-vapour discharge tube, which has two main electrodes 2, 3 and one auxiliary electrode 4, is mounted in a bulb 6, provided with a cap 7, in such manner that the auxiliary electrode, and the seal therefor, is associated with the main electrode 3 which is remote from the cap 7. By this arrangement, the temperature of the seal is kept low. The filling of the discharge tube may consist of cadmium or zinc or of mercury at five atmospheres. The electrode 4 is connected to the main electrode 2 through a resistance 14. Nitrogen at a pressure of 50 cms. may be inserted in the bulb 6.
