Abstract

551,509. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 9, 1941, No. 11492. Convention date, Sept. 10, 1940. [Class 38 (ii)] In a current transformer in which the primary winding and the lower part of the leads thereto are surrounded by porous insulation such as crepe paper in turn surrounded by an impervious covering of tape 11, a tube 25 extending within the covering to the lowest part of the winding is provided to permit of'oil being introduced from a tank 27 after vacuum drying. Spaces may be provided between the paper insulation and the impervious covering. The transformer is similar to that of Specification 537,206 but may be enclosed in a casing 10, which is provided with a tube 28 for evacuation and is subsequently filled with oil.
