[Class 36] A bare, plated, or enamelled conductor has an insulating-covering, for example of cellulose acetate, regenerated cellulose, paper, asbestos, or silk, cemented thereon by a non-resinous lacquer. The lacquer may be a nitrocellulose lacquer and may be in admixture with castor or linseed oil. The conductor, when bare, may be annealed or passed through an acid bath to improve the bond between the insulating covering and the conductor. The covering material, which may be in the form of a woven tape or strip, may be applied by the machine described in Specification 465,476.
