777,669. Transformers. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 30, 1955 [Oct. 4, 1954], No. 27905/55. Class 38 (2). A high voltage transformer 1 provided with a holder 11 for a rectifying valve 9, the cathode of which is heated by current supplied from a winding 7 is characterized in that the valve 9 is arranged in the holder 11 so that a raised insulating rim 13 encloses the adjacent end of the rectifying valve 9, the holder being provided with a lateral extension comprising two raised edges 15, 17, thus forming a channel in which is accommodated the filament winding 7 and the metal terminals 27 of the valve holder, the extension also being provided with an aperture 19 through which passes the magnetic core of the transformer so that the winding 7 is linked with the core, the channel between the edges 15, 17 being filled with insulating material 25 so as to embed the winding 7, the terminals 27 and any connections thereto. The transformer is provided with a primary winding 3 and a highvoltage secondary winding 5 which voltage is supplied to the rectifying valve 9.
