Abstract

547,951. Billet-piercing. WELLMAN SEAVER ROLLING MILL CO., Ltd., and McCLAY, G. S. March 14, 1941, No. 3525. [Class 83 (iv)] A press for billet-piercing has a ring 56, for guiding the punch 13, with means, such as adjustable and removable sectors 62 having internal surfaces 65, to centre it with respect to the billet container 6. The sectors 62 may form a continuous ring and may be displaced if the corresponding formation on the container 6 is damaged. In a modification the sectors 62 are replaced by a bevelled ring. The ring 56 may be urged downwardly by two cylinders 57 and fixed plungers 58 connected to a hydraulic accumulator &c. by a pipe 69. Specifications 547,950 and 547,952 are referred to.
