Abstract
547,521. Two-part.couplings. GILLARD, F. G., and PLESSEY CO., Ltd. Nov. 28, 1940, No. 17023. [Class 38 (i)] The insulating body 12, 20 in which the plug or socket contacts of a coupling are mounted, are retained in a moulded casing formed of two sleeves 27, 28 having interfitting longitudinal projections 29, 30 with radial ribs forming between them a groove 40 for the reception of a locking ring 31. As shown the ribs on the projections 30 lie on one side of the groove and those on the projections 29 on the other side, but one or both of the sets of projections may have a pair of ribs between which the groove 40 is formed. The sleeve 28 may extend beyond the body part 20 to surround the cable ends 10 which are enclosed in a sheath 41 and a rubber connecting sleeve 42. The plug and socket members may be fastened together by a screw ring 34 co-operating with the ribs 29 and retained by a clip or ring 44 set in a groove.
