[Class 138 (ii)] In a garment pressing machine a plurality of upright bucks 19 are mounted on a rotary platform 14 so as to be brought in succession between press jaws 20, 21 mounted on a main frame 10, 11, 12, 13. The platform 14 comprises a plurality of radial channel members 15, 16, 17 in each of which is slidable a buck-supporting block 18 pressed outward by a spring. Each buck is provided with side stretching rods 53 operated by a handle 66 and by a lever 67. The platform 14 is moved round by hand, and is given a final push into location by a compressed air pusher 46, 50, a snap spring latch 37 engaging a projection below the radial member to register the buck. The jaw 20 is moved horizontally against the positioned buck 19 by compressed air and toggle mechanism 31, 32, and the jaw 21 may be similarly operated, or may be simply suspended by a rod 24 and rest against rubber blocks or springs 22. A suspension rod 28 also supports the jaw 20, and each rod 24, 28 is attached to a rolling carriage 25. In order to give the rods 53 a further outward movement to stretch the garment more immediately after the buck is squeezed between the jaws 20, 21, the lever 67, which forms a pawl acting on a toothed wheel on the shaft 54 which operates the rods 53, is given a forward impulse by a compressed air pusher 78, 83, which is fed via the operating cylinder 31 near the end of its action. Pedals 40, 80, 84 respectively release the latch 37, energize the pusher 46, 50, and start the toggle press mechanism 30, 32. Specification 535,682 is referred to.
