Abstract

535,682. Pressing machine bucks. RAWLINSON, G. H., and RAWLINSON, R. A. Feb. 16, 1940, No. 2995. [Class 138 (ii)] A garment buck for pressing machines comprises a hollow shell 10 covered by a layer 13 of vulcanized rubber about half-an-inch thick. Flexible members 18, 19 are disposed along the sides of the buck, and are given an outward movement beneath the garment to stretch same. The mechanism comprises a detent-held handrotated shaft 21 geared by a pinion 27 to two sectors 28, 29 each carrying a rod 31, 32 pivoted to the middle of equalizing bars 34, 35. Each end of each bar 34, 35 has a spring telescopic connecting rod 40 which passes through the buck sides and is linked to the members 18, 19. Sleeve supports 71 are carried by rods 68, 69 controlled by toggle-link motion through a spring-retracted plunger 54 depressed by a cam 51 operated by a handle 53. One, 68, of the rods is longer than the other, 69, in order to facilitate placing of the garment upon the buck and also to keep the forward sleeve well away from the pressing jaws during the introduction of the buck therebetween. Linked with the cam shaft 52 is a parallel shaft 46 carrying arms 47 between which extends a collar-pressing band which is brought down against the neck of the garment simultaneously with the extension of the supports 71.
