Abstract
The mechanism drives two carriages towards each other, through an equal distance and applies an equal load to them. It may be used for controlling the forming tools in thread rolling machines. A jack (7) draws the tool carriers (1, 2) together. A link mechanism consists of a crank arm (5) pivoted (6) at its centre and having one end connected to one carrier and the other to the other carrier by means of connecting rods (3, 4) of equal length. The symmetry of the connecting rod arrangement ensures equal movement of the carriers under the action of the jack.
