780,429. Roller conveyers step-by-step conveyers. SMITH-CLAYTON FORGE, Ltd. and FOX., H. M. H. July 6, 1955 [July 6,1954], No. 19685/54. Class 78,(1). Means for feeding bar or rod stock' to a cropping or shearing machine comprises a trolley 1 movable on rails 3 and provided with parallel channel members 10, 11, 12 for supporting the stock and similar mem. bers 15, 16, 17, which are moved in such a manner that the stock is moved step-by-step along the members 10, 11, 12 and delivered one bar at a time to a roller conveyer 29, which conveys it to the cropping machine. The bars 15, 16, 17 are mounted on shafts 18, 19 by means of eccentrics 20 and the shafts are driven by a motor 21 through chain- and-sprocket gearing. Counterweights 25 are provided on each spindle to prevent overrunning of the shafts and eccentrics by the stock bars. The roller conveyer is adjusted vertically by turning a spindle 34 by means of the mechanism shown in Fig. 7. A hand wheel 33 has a universal-joint connection with a threaded spindle 46 which is in engagement with the forked end 47 of an arm 35 fast on the spindle 34. Arms 135 secured to the ends of the spindle, Fig. 3, are connected by links 36 to a toggle device 37. The lower link of each toggle is connected to the trolley 1 and the upper link veyer is mounted on pivoted arms 39 which to the frame of the roller conveyer. The concarry a counterweight 40.
