Abstract

691,201. Roller-way conveyers. THOMPSON & NORRIS MANUFACTURINGS CO., Ltd., and HARPER, J. J. Aug. 9, 1951.. [Aug. 18, 1950] No. 20553/50. Class 78 (i). In a power-driyen roller conveyer a loading grid is provided which comprises a series of rods 21 substantially parallel to and disposed between adjacent rollers and which normally is maintained in position above the roller-way, but has means for lowering it to deposit the load on the rollers. The rollers 11 are arranged in groups 12, 13 separated by an idler roller 14. The rollers of each group are connected by drive chains and the innermost roller of each group is connected by a chain to a gear box 8 driven by an electric motor. The rods 21 are carried by supports 22 which are mounted on angleirons 23 secured to beams 24. Each beam is supported in the bifurcated ends of arms 27 which are fast on shafts 25. Each of these shafts carries also a pair of arms 29 on which counterweights 31 are mounted adjustably. A vertical member 33 connected rigidly'to the parts 23, 24 has a pedal 32 at its lower end. When pressure is exerted on the pedal, the grid is lowered.
