Abstract

1339410 Roller conveyers MANNESMANN AG 16 June 1972 [26 June 1971] 28320/72 Heading B8A A conveyer turntable suitable for conveying flat bottomed loads such as air freight units comprises a plurality of pairs of rollers 8, 26 of which rollers 8 are driven by bevel gearing 15, 16 and by chain-sprocket means 14, 17. Each roller 8 is secured to a shaft 5 but the roller 26 is freely rotatable on the shaft which is itself supported for pivotal movement on a vertical shaft 4. This shaft is pivotable by an arm 24 and a rod 25. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown) a bevel gear (33) and a drive sprocket (37) are separate members. In Fig. 3, the sprocket wheels 14 are driven by a common chain 17 and the vertical shafts are pivotable by pinions 9 engaged by racks 10. For the synchronization of the racks, pinions 12 common to these racks and to a rack 11 are provided. A cylinder 13 actuates the racks. The differing directions of roller drive indicated in Fig. 3 are compensated for by the pivotal settings of the shafts 4, Fig. 2. By these settings e.g. by pivoting 90 degrees or less, loads can be conveyed through corresponding changes of direction.
