Abstract

1,221,776. Endless conveyers. STEIN ATKINSON STORDY Ltd. 31 May, 1968 [1 April, 1967], No. 15017/67. Heading B8A. An endless conveyer used in the manufacture of rubber gloves comprises a pair of spaced, driven, endless chains 27 with a plurality of bars 24 extending transversely therebetween and vertically slidably mounted in guides 26 fixed to the endless chains. Each bar 24 supports a plurality of formers 25, which formers are rotatable by a drive-shaft 39 rotatably supported within each bar 24 and coupled to each former by bevel gears (30, 37), Fig. 6 (not shown). The outer end of a shaft 39 mounts a sprocket 40 in engagement with a rack 41 fixed to a guide rail 42 and is thus rotated on movement of the conveyer. An arm 43 fixed to the end of the shaft 39 mounts a roller 44 in engagement with the underside of the guide rail 42 to maintain contact between the sprocket 40 and the rack 41. The guide rail 42 further serves to determine the vertical displacement of the bars 24 in relation to the endless chains 27 for the porpose of dipping the formers 25 in preparation or treatment tanks. The bars 24 also mount at their ends arms 49 with rollers 50 in engagement with guide tracks 51 whereby the bars may be rotated to vary the inclination of the formers 53 (Fig. 3, not shown). In an alternative embodiment (not shown) the sprocket 40 may be driven by an independently driven endless chain whereby to enable the speed of rotation of the formers to be varied. In a further embodiment the bars 24 are mounted on wheels and propelled along the tracks by reciprocating pushers. A hoist is arranged at each dipping stage to lift and lower the bars 24 into and out of the treatment tanks.
