Abstract
650,637. Angular bending. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd., JARMAN, D. L., and ADAMSON, P. Aug. 27, 1948, No. 22614. [Class 83 (iv)] In a machine for bending tubes &c. a stock 25 carries a grooved former 60 and arms 145, 150 carrying grooved bending rolls 163, 190. The arms 145, 150 are connected by links 185, 189 and pins 260, 270 to the body of a hydraulic jack 204 slidable on a base 1 supported on legs 2, 4 and the plunger of the jack contacts the rear of the stock 25. In use the rolls 163, 190 are swung in by actuation of a screw 280 and the tube inserted and the rolls are then moved to effect bending by operating the jack by a lever 217<SP>1</SP> to slide the body 204 and apply tension to the. links. The latter may be secured selectively to holes 258 in lugs in thejack body. Formers.-To adapt the machine for bending different tubes former units comprising a stock 25, former 60, levers 145, 150 and rolls 163, 190 for the desired size and curvature are fitted.
