[Class 141] Apparatus for spreading stockings to facilitate examination comprises a pair of arms inserted in the stocking and moved apart in a single plane by treadle-operated mechanism, means being provided for limiting and indicating the movement of the arms and for retaining the stockings thereon. The arms 3, 4, Fig. 1, formed with transverse grooves 18 for the reception of elastic bands to retain the stockings, are moved apart by an expansion member 5 operated by a rod 6; the rod is actuated by a lever 11 from a treadle 7 an adjustable calibrated stop 15 limiting the movement. The member 5, Fig. 4, has an adjustable heel part 21 secured thereto by a screw and nut, the position of the heel part being indicated by markings.
