430,947. Sole-rounding and like machines. COMPO SHOE MACHINERY CORPORATION, 565, 5th Avenue, New York, U.S.A. Aug. 13, 1934, No. 23358. Convention date, Jan. 4. [Class 31 (i)] A positioning gauge for use in solerounding and like machines comprises a pair of arms 27 each provided with a roller 31 and a disc 32 to engage a pattern 11 and a sole 12 respectively, the arms 27 being pivotally connected to a slide 14 mounted upon a fixed bracket 13. The slide 14 is projected towards the pattern 11 against the action of a spring 15 by means of a handle 16, and is maintained in its projected position through contact with a cam 18 pivotally mounted upon a support 17 on the bracket 13. The cam 18 has a projecting portion 24 engageable by a pin 25 coupled to a lever 20 which is connected to the clamping ram 9, so that, as the latter descends, the pin 25 trips the cam 18 and the spring 15 retracts the gauge. The arms 27 are drawn towards each other by means of a spring 29, and a slotted link 30 connected to the arms 27 is adapted to contact with the pattern 11 to prevent the gauge from being moved too far.
