Abstract
642,045. Angular bending. TAL BENDER, Inc. Feb. 19, 1948, No. 4980. Convention date, Jan. 16, 1947. [Class 83 (iv)] A pipe bending device comprises a grooved former 21 detachably secured to the ram of a hydraulic screw or ratchet jack 20 and co-operating with rolls 25 journalled on pins 45 in holes in holes 44 on a frame secured to the jack. On the pins 45 are mounted levers 28, 29 carrying rolls 53, 55. The pipe is bent U-shape with the rolls 55 removed and the ram is withdrawn and the rolls fitted. On subsequent forward movement of the ram the pipe contacts the rolls 53 to swing the levers and the rolls 55 bend the tube to an angle of more than 180 degrees. The levers 28, 29 may be mounted to provide a greater leverage for the rolls 55. To eject a tube the former is disconnected from the ram and anchored to the frame by inserting pins in holes 57, and the ram operated to force a pin through a hole 40 in the former.
