Abstract

The post extractor consists of an upright (1) which is supported on a base plate while its upper end has a circular opening, into which is inserted a pin (4). The pin acts as a hinge for a horizontal lever- arm (5), one end (6) of which holds by means of a second pin (7) a chain or cable (8). A circular collar (10) is connected to the end of the chain, the collar being sufficiently large to be slipped onto the pile to be extracted. When pressure is exerted on the free end of the lever-arm, the collar grips the post and pulls it out of the ground. The extractor can be used on any type of post since the collar can be any required shape, or size and can also be equipped with teeth or bands of rubber in order to increase grip.
