Abstract

PURPOSE:To apply a test load on a sample in a buffering manner, by supporting a load applying lever by means of a buffer spring immediately before the total load is applied by said lever. CONSTITUTION:The base end 1a of a test load applying lever 1 is pivotally connected to a hardness meter main body 3 through a rotary supporting shaft 2. A test load is applied to a sample by a load shaft 4 whose surface is contacted with a load transmitting lower-side projection 1b. A weight 7 for applying a test load is hung from the free end 1c of the lever 1. The free end 9a of a buffering plate spring 9 is contacted with a lower-side projecting part 1d, and the base end 9b of the plate spring 9 is attached to the tip 17a of a supporting arm 17 approximately horizontally extending from the upper part of a control shaft 10. The control shaft 10 is vertically movably inserted in a guide hole 12 formed in the main body 3 and moved up and down by the revolution of a cam 14 around an eccentric supporting shaft 14a. In the application of a test load, the plate spring free end 9a separates from the lever lower-side projecting part 1d after the upper end of the control shaft 10 has separated from the free end 9a. Accordingly, the partial load increases gently.
