Abstract
547,187. Magnetic iron oxide. JOHNSON LABORATORIES, Inc., Feb. 10, 1941, No. 1778. Convention date, Feb. 9, 1940. Drawings to Specification. [Class 1 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXV] A magnetic dust core for high frequency inductances is formed from a synthetically produced magnetic oxide of iron (Fe 3 O 4 ) in the form of minute substantially spherical particles. The oxide is produced in this form by melting iron, for example by passing it in the form of a wire through an electric arc or an oxy-acetylene flame, and blowing the molten metal in the form of a spray through an oxidizing gas such as air. The powder is subsequently mixed with synthetic resin, moulded into cores. Specifications 147,901, [Class 82 (ii)], 269,770 [Class 38 (ii)], 415,456, 473,940 [Group II], and U.S.A., Specification 1,695,041 are referred to.
