Abstract
Fusion mass is free from metallic iron; 1-50% is blast-furnace slag containing Mn and Fe as sulphides or oxides, and the rest includes oxidants in proportion sufficient to oxidize all the slag sulphides other than those present as MnS and FeS. Pref. the final Mn and Fe quantity in the glass is 0.05-0.50% as MnO and Fe2O3. Manufacture is described.
