Abstract

[Class 38 (iv)] In diesel electric and like power systems 10, 11, 12 in which the excitation of the genera. tor 11 is automatically controlled, overspeeding at low and high currents and speed restriction a medium currents art avoided by controlling excitation by relays such as R1, R3 and R2, R4 Fig. 1, responsive to different values of the current, or voltage, and adapted independently to shunt and inser respectively a common resistance 21 or 22 in the excitation circuit. In a modification, Fig. 2 where relays E1, E2 are responsive to voltage one of them E is opposed by a current coil 12 and the other E1 may control also the energization of a separately excited winding 25.
