Abstract

546,386. Electric lamps. STOTT, J. Jan. 8, 1941, No. 283. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] A street lamp complying with A.R.P. requirements comprises an electric lamp bulb or other light source F, Fig 1, detachably mounted on a holder G in proximity to a curved annular surface E of inch radius around an opening D at the centre of a paraboloidal reflector C having a neutral coloured surface. The reflector C is attached to the lamp body A by screws K and is formed with a flange L forming a seating for a bezel M carrying a neutral-tinted glass filter U. Direct rays from the bulb F are prevented from falling on the filter U by an opaque cup or coating V. The bezel M is hinged at one side O to the lamp body and is secured at the other by a hasp P and screw R. The ,holder G is mounted in a perforated cup H soldered to the reflector C. Fig 2 shows a vehicle lamp in which a lamp bulb F is similarly arranged in a central open- ing in a parabolic reflector C and the reflected rays are directed through a glass or other filter U covering one or more horizontal slots y in a curved plate Y to issue through a ribbed or fluted glass Z covering horizontal slots z in the front of the lamp casing.
