Abstract

619,387. Lamps with trough-shaped reflectors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and SANGER, M. J. Dec. 5, 1946, No. 36085. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] An electric street lighting fitting adapted for use with elongated electric lamps comprises a pair of parabolic trough reflectors 5, 6 having their planes of symmetry each inclined' at an angle of about 60-70 degrees to the central plane of the fitting, the adjacent parts of the reflectors forming a continuation one of the other and means for mounting elongated electric lamps 1, 3 one on each of the focal lines 7, 8 of the reflectors and a third lamp 2 in the central plane of the fitting, parallel to the other two lamps and close to the junction of the two reflectors. The part of each reflector from the junction with the other reflector to the vertex is preferably four times as long as the part from the vertex to the outer rim. The two reflecting surfaces may be formed by one single reflector of polished aluminium and the part where the two surfaces meet may be made flat.
