Class 75(4) In a lighting unit suitable for illuminating surgical operations and comprising two or more projector lamps having reflectors 4 and heat-absorbing filters 7, 8 and a casing 1 having an end wall 9 with light exit windows 2, the projector lamps are mounted on a bridge 6 disposed within the casing and spaced from the end wall 9. The bridge 6 is disposed parallel to the end wall 9 and is connected to the lateral wall of the casing, heat insulating being preferably provided between the bridge and the lateral wall. The windows 2 in the end wall 9 are formed by panes of glass or synthetic material.
