Abstract

The lighting unit is for the illumination of a predetermined space, having one or more incandescent-filament lamp bulbs. This emits a parallel light beam towards one or more reflecting surfaces (20), which is inclined to the beam (11) so as to direct the light to the space concerned. The bulb (10) can be mounted in a housing (14) masking it and with an opening (18) for the beam while the reflecting surface is mounted opposite the opening and at a distance from it. Arrangements can be included for placing one or more coloured transparent filters in the path of the beam. Where the unit illuminates a mirror, the housing can be strip-shaped, running along the top of it.
