Abstract

The unit is intended for lighting a complete room or for use at least as a reading lamp, and has a mounting allowing it to be placed on table or floor, or suspended from wall or ceiling. Light from the lamp enters, by one of its faces, a transparent component (2) of material sufficiently rigid as not to move in use, and passes through it to the opposite face, which is inclined to the axis of the incoming light. The latter is thus reflected or refracted so as to emerge from the component at an angle. The mounting can include a baseplate containing the lamp mounting.
