[Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] In a multi-cylinder fuel injection pump in which the pistons are rotatable relative to their cylinders to control the fuel injected at each stroke, and in which individual adjustment means for each piston is provided by toothed sleeves adjustable along a common regulating rod, there is a finely adjustable and stepless rotary adjustment of the sleeves along the rod. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the sleeve 4 is screwed on the rod 5 and is formed on a portion of its circumference with a worm segment 3 to mesh with a worm wheel or helical gear 2 on the piston 1. Opposite the worm teeth 3 the sleeve is formed with an elongated circumferential slot 7, 8 which is perpendicular to the axis of the rod 5 or is inclined to correspond with the pitch of the screwthreads on the rod. A cheese-headed screw 6 passes through the slot and screws into the rod, its head pressing on the step between the parts 7, 8 of the slot. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the sleeve 4<SP>1</SP> slides along the rod 5 and is fixed in position by a grub screw 10, the part 11 of which engages a groove 12 cut in the rod perpendicular or oblique to the axis of the rod. There may be three grub screws to increase the range of adjustment.
