Abstract

565,383. Fuel-injection pumps. C.A,V;, Ltd., NICOLLS, W. E. W., and EVANS, F. M. May 4, 1943, No. 7053. [Class 102 (i)] A fuel-injection pump for an internal-combustion engine comprises a plunger barrel j within a cylinder c which is inserted in a bore d in a body part a and which has at its outer end a head e formed with slots g for bolts f to secure it to the body part, angular adjustment of the cylinder relative to the body part being effected by screws 5. A key n and slot o prevent rotation of the barrel relative to the cylinder. The slidable and rotatable plunger s extends beyond the barrel and is provided with a collar t with a groove 3 engaged by a projection 2 on a pinion u which is rotatable on the barrel by a slidable toothed rack v and which is provided with ball bearings z. The rack v has additional teeth engaged by a toothed segment 6 on a short shaft 7 movable angularly by a lever 8.
