Abstract
543,775. Glazing windows. HARRIS, H. C. F., GOUGH, W. F., and LENSCRETE, Ltd. Sept. 7, 1940, No. 13988. [Class 20 (iii)] Glass is fixed in a frame of concrete or other mouldable material, being held by a retaining member 10 of soft metal such as lead, this member, which may be U-shaped, having a flange 11 with beaded end 12 which is embedded in the moulded frame 16. This frame may have a preformed groove 18 into which the retaining member is inserted, and in which it is fixed by cement 19. The outer flange of the member 10 is bent back to admit the glass between the limbs of the retaining member, and is then returned to overlie the margin of the glass. A rabbet or shoulder may be formed in the frame to support the retaining member, and, in Fig. 5, the glass 21 is bedded against this shoulder 15 by putty 22, the flat lead strip 20 being bent back to secure the pane in position.
