Abstract

509,619. Draught-excluders. MACGREGOR, J. Jan. 26, 1938, No. 2520. [Class 20 (iii)] Draught, gas, and weather-excluding means for hinged doors, windows, and the like consists of a resilient strip 6 having portions extending along the lintel 3, jambs 2 and threshold 9 so arranged as to be compressed by the face of the door 1, and an offset portion 6a arranged to be compressed by the hinged edge of the door. The strip may be made of sponge rubber faced with a layer of non-porous rubber and may be held in position by metal plates 7. Alternatively, the strips may be press-fitted into grooves in the door frame or held in place by a water-resistant adhesive. The edges of the door may be fitted with protruding metal strips adapted to engage with the sealing strip when the door is closed. In a modification, the door is of steel and the sealing strip is held in position by angle-plates to the door frame.
