Abstract

The window unit consists of two panes of glass of which the outer is the thicker. The outer pane is embedded in putty (2) and the gap between the glass and the wall is closed by a silicone sealant (8). The inside of the pane is restrained by a wooden block (4) and an aluminium strip (3). The window is also held by a wooden frame (5). On the inside of the window there is a frame of hollow plastic sections and between them and the metal strip (3) is a block of sound insulating material (9). The plastic sections (11 & 15) are approximately square in section and join on to one another. The joints (14 & 17) are watertight.
