Abstract

542,621. Roller mills for cereal grain. ROBINSON & SON, Ltd., T., and ROBINSON, C. S. July 30, 1940, No. 12348. [Class 59] Relates to roll adjusting means of the type in which an eccentric j acts upon the lower end of a sleeve k disposed at the upper end of each roll parting rod u, the parting rod acting through a spring box 3 on one side of a swing arm c carrying a roll bearing and directly on the other side of the arm, a hand wheel turning a screwed sleeve being provided for adjusting the parting rod and through it the roll. According to the invention, the upper part of the parting rod is screw-threaded and engages the internally screw-threaded sleeve o. The sleeve o is surrounded by a rotary sleeve q having a handle r pivoted on a pin s in the sleeve q the handle having a lug t which, in the full-line position shown, engages a castellated nut fixed on the upper end of the sleeve o, whereby the sleeve o may be turned. The handle r may be pivoted to the dotted-line, disengaged position. The parting rod is in two axially-aligned parts, the upper part carrying a collar v which bears on the arm c, and the collar v carrying an extension w off the rod u, the extension passing through the arm c and supporting the spring box. Indicators 5 and 6 are provided.
