Abstract

[Class 59] [Also in Group VI] The end of a roller 1 for crushing the stems of tobacco leaves is provided with an in. clined scraper 4 pressed thereagainst by springs, weights, pneumatic or hydraulic means &c. An aperture 3 in the frame of the roller gives access thereto for the end of the scraper which is slidably mounted on a support 5, and urged on to the roller by a spring 8 connected to a bellcrank lever 7 in engagement with a projection 6 on the scraper 1. The scrapings slide down the scraper clear of the frame 2 with or without the aid of a rotary brush &c.
