Abstract
542,372. Bearings ; connecting-rods. AKTIEBOLAGET BOLINDER-MUNKTELL. April 17, 1941, No. 4996. Convention date, April 18, 1940. [Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a connecting- rod bearing with tilting pads engaging the crank-pin.23, the pads are of different load capacity or size according to their position in the housing. The pad 25 nearest the piston is larger than the others and is unsymmetrical about the central plane 27 and the tilting surface has a radius r<SP>1</SP> for the rear part smaller than the radius r<SP>2</SP> of the front part. The pads are giddeu by lateral flanges and are made of steel coated with a lead-bronze alloy. The connecting rod is ribbed opposite to pad 25 to house a smaller pad 30 whilst the lateral pads 31 are smaller still and are housed in the bolt enlargements. The connecting-rod has a central rib between the pads to distribute the forcefed lubricant over the crank-pin channels. Specification 537,606, [Group XXVI], is referred to.
