Abstract
715,562. Bearing bushes. GLACIER METAL CO., Ltd. June 5, 1953 [June 20, 1952], No. 15592/52. Class 12(1) A plain bearing has the bore machined to an undulatory or wave formation circumferentially of the bore to provide spaced areas 3 of small clearance separated by larger clearance areas 4. The bearing may comprise a lining of copper-lead or lead-bronze bonded to a relatively strong backing of steel or bronze. If the lining is of porous material it may be impregnated with poly-tetrafluoro-ethylene or other suitable solid lubricant. The external surface of the bearing may be cylindrical, or tapered to coact with a tapered bore 6 in a housing 7 in which it is retained by a ring 9 and bolts 8. The bearing may be longitudinally split. An oil wick 10 may be disposed in a slot in the bearing in the vicinity of at least one of the areas 3 of small clearance.
